In a bid to contribute towards mitigating the impact of climate change, YONECO has established a tree nursery in Rumphi that will provide seedlings to local youth clubs and schools around Rumphi Boma.
Currently, a total of 200 tree saplings have been cultivated intending to reduce climate-related disasters by planting trees around schools, and other community structures.
For a start, the tree seedlings will benefit five youth clubs and 10 schools before scaling up the initiative to other areas.
Annually, Rumphi Boma experiences heavy and devastating winds that cause significant damage to schools and health facilities.
